Exploring cPanel Installation: A Step-by-Step Guide

cPanel Installation Problem: Server Inaccessibility After Installing on AlmaLinux/CloudLinux/Rocky 8 Servers

Symptoms:

CPanel Installation Issues: After installing cPanel on AlmaLinux/CloudLinux/Rocky 8 servers, encountered problems with server inaccessibility upon reboot.

Description:

The cause of this issue lies in the fact that the installation of cPanel on these servers disables the NetworkManager service and replaces it with the Network service. If there were any prior customizations to network-related configurations that conflict with this server change, the Network service may fail to start during server boot. Consequently, the server becomes unreachable after a reboot.

Workaround:

To address this problem, cooperation with a network or system administrator is necessary to configure the server to be compatible with the Network service. By default, this issue only occurs if there are customizations made to the operating system. In such cases, contacting the hosting provider might be required for additional assistance.

To resolve the inaccessibility issue, you can follow these steps:

1. Install cPanel.

2. Re-enable the NetworkManager service using the following commands if you have access to SSH/Terminal/Console:

/usr/bin/systemctl disable network
/usr/bin/systemctl enable NetworkManager
/usr/bin/systemctl stop network; /usr/bin/systemctl start NetworkManager

3. Reboot the server.

It’s important to be aware that the exact cause of the problem may differ based on the customizations implemented. As a result, the recommended fix is to enable the NetworkManager service again before starting the reboot.
